As summer is almost over and school is about to start (aka the amount of time I have to read is going to drastically decline) I decided to go through all the books I’ve read so far this year and just remember ~the greats~
just so you know I can think back to them when times are rough

This reading year has been phenomenal for me!! My original goal was 50 books but right now I’m at 77 so I ended up increasing it to 100. Not all of the books were the best but I’ve definitely found some new favourites that I absolutely adore.

These aren’t in any specific order that’s too much pressure

The Final Empire (Mistborn #1) by Brandon Sanderson

This was somehow my first adult fantasy book(??) and man am I glad that I decided to start with a Brandon Sanderson book. The elemental magic system was amazing as was the world building. It took me so long to read just because I couldn’t handle the book ending. Also Kelsier, my absolute love what would I do without you.

Radio Silence by Alice Oseman

Can you believe that I could relate to a contemporary book so much. It’s easy for me to feel things but this was too painfully real. This book deals so much with what’s it like to be an academically strong student but still being so lost and not knowing if that’s something you want, it just fully hit where it hurts. But it also takes all that and tells you it’s all going to be okay and it was such a beautiful story about friendship.

Throne of Glass series by Sarah J Maas

I’m only on the third book right now but I am so fully hooked on this story I know that it is 100% going to be a favourite. I can’t even properly judge the quality of these books because I am full on addicted. I love Celaena and Chaol, and I’m pretty sure I know who Celaena ends up with later on in the series but we’re just going to pretend that doesn’t happen.

Wayward Children series by Seanan McGuire

Honestly, I read the first book and gave it 5 stars but it wasn’t really a “favourite” of mine. But right now I’m reading Down Among the Sticks and Bones and with every page I read I love it more and more. Something about Seanan McGuire’s writing is just so captivating and this story is just beyond words. I don’t know how many books are supposed to be in the series but I hope it never ends.

Vicious (The Villains #1) by V.E. Schwab

How did this book take me so long to read, it wasn’t what I was expecting but somehow it was everything I wanted. I love the pretentious academic vibes, the extraordinary powers, and Victor Vale is probably one of the most fascinating characters I’ve ever read. Victoria Schwab wrote him so I completely understood his motivations and where he was coming from and he truly made this story for me.

I love all these books with all my heart and I am still constantly thinking about them, they are all some of my favourite books of all time

(because for some reason contemporaries almost never make it on my absolute favourites list but these were brilliant)

Have you read some of the books I’ve mentioned and are they also some of your favourites? What are some of the best books that you’ve read so far this year?

I need to read Radio Silence. Everyone’s been talking about that gem.
Also, coincidentally, I’m currently halfway through Vicious right now and I am so hooked. (Totally agree on the “pretentious academic vibes”, they actually compelled me to start working on my Biology project lol).
