ARC: Outrun the Wind by Elizabeth Tammi

The Huntresses of Artemis must obey two rules: never disobey the goddess, and never fall in love. After being rescued from a harrowing life as an Oracle of Delphi, Kahina is glad to be a part of the Hunt; living among a group of female warriors gives her a chance to reclaim her strength, even while her prophetic powers linger. But when a routine mission goes awry, Kahina breaks the first rule in order to save the legendary huntress Atalanta.

To earn back Artemis’s favor, Kahina must complete a dangerous task in the kingdom of Arkadia— where the king’s daughter is revealed to be none other than Atalanta. Still reeling from her disastrous quest and her father’s insistence on marriage, Atalanta isn’t sure what to make of Kahina. As her connection to Atalanta deepens, Kahina finds herself in danger of breaking Artemis’ second rule.

She helps Atalanta devise a dangerous game to avoid marriage, and word spreads throughout Greece, attracting suitors willing to tempt fate to go up against Atalanta in a race for her hand. But when the men responsible for both the girls’ dark pasts arrive, the game turns deadly.

The ABC Book Challenge – “D”

So I know it’s not Sunday but let’s be real I haven’t done the best job at keeping that up weekly so does the day of the week even really matter? One thing that this tag really makes me want to do is read books starting with letters I haven’t done this challenge for yet so I have more to talk about for the memorable books section but I definitely can’t read fast enough to catch up for that.

October TBR

and I am FINALLY out of my reading slump which is honestly perfect timing because I’ve been looking forward to this TBR for so long!! I’m probably going to be a lot busier this month than in September but I’m actually going to try to make time for reading this time around so hopefully it goes well.

Since it is the month of Halloween I do have a selection of ~spooky~ and intense books that I want to get to to get into the spirit but it’s also my birthday month! I only really let myself reread my favourite books during October (because otherwise I would literally just read those over and over again) so that’s also another great addition to my TBR!!

September Wrap Up

Oh man this month was definitely not a good reading month. Either so many things were going on with vacation and university or I was just full on slumping so I only managed to read 4 books. Quality-wise at least I didn’t read any books that I explicitly hated, they all had some merit but most weren’t particularly life changing in terms of my reading experience.

I’m honestly not even sure how my reading is going to go this school year because I’m somehow already so much busier than before even though I don’t think I’m particularly involved with more things? I’m trying to study a lot more and now I have a full exec position at my drama society but that’s it for the most part. But October should be better!! I’m already almost done my first book which I’m super impressed by!!

But anyways, here are the books I read in September:

Red Rising by Pierce Brown

Darrow is a Red, a member of the lowest caste in the color-coded society of the future. Like his fellow Reds, he works all day, believing that he and his people are making the surface of Mars livable for future generations.

Yet he spends his life willingly, knowing that his blood and sweat will one day result in a better world for his children.

But Darrow and his kind have been betrayed. Soon he discovers that humanity already reached the surface generations ago. Vast cities and sprawling parks spread across the planet. Darrow—and Reds like him—are nothing more than slaves to a decadent ruling class.

Inspired by a longing for justice, and driven by the memory of lost love, Darrow sacrifices everything to infiltrate the legendary Institute, a proving ground for the dominant Gold caste, where the next generation of humanity’s overlords struggle for power. He will be forced to compete for his life and the very future of civilization against the best and most brutal of Society’s ruling class. There, he will stop at nothing to bring down his enemies… even if it means he has to become one of them to do so.

September Book Haul

After counting how many unread books I had on my shelves (the number was over 150) I thought I would slow down with my book buying habits… However that wasn’t really the case this month. For the most part I only bought books when I said I would, so on vacation and at my university’s used book sales but it just turned out more than I expected.
